November 5 brought lots of encouraging election results, topped by the stunning mandate of over 76 million voters who re-elected President Donald J. Trump as our 47th Commander-in-Chief!
Arkansas
Yes to paper ballots; No to tax hikes: On Election Day, Independence County voters approved paper ballots for their county elections. Jonesboro voters refused to to restore the public library tax they cut in half in 2022. Little Rock voters said “no” for a second time to a proposed sales tax hike — this time for a penny pushed by Mayor Frank Scott — for infrastructure, parks, public safety, the Little Rock Port, and “general capital improvements.” Beebe said “no” to a sales tax that would’ve funded a softball/baseball complex and local parks. Also in Craighead County, voters rejected a proposed half-cent sales tax hike for renovations and updates to the local jail.
NWA Arkansas Latino voters flex: “Diana Gonzales Worthen won Springdale’s House District 9, the state’s first and only majority-Latino district, according to the unofficial but complete results from the Arkansas Secretary of State. She defeated freshman incumbent Republican Rep. DeAnna Hodges by 472 votes, a rematch of their 2022 race that Hodges won by 109 votes.”
Looks like it: Justice Rhonda Wood’s majority opinion rejecting the abortion issue for the November ballot sunk her bid to become the Arkansas Supreme Court’s Chief Justice. She lost at 47% to Karen Baker’s 52% on November 5.
Tells everything: Notice the insulting, deprecating way the Arkansas Advocate wrote about re-electing President Trump (bold emphasis ours):
Donald Trump became the first-ever convicted felon elected to the Oval Office this week, when voters elected him to a second term as president…
Child porn arrest: Last week former My Faith Votes CEO Jason C. Yates was charged with eight felony child porn counts involving images of children as young as 5 to 7 years old. Yates was listed as late as 2023 on the group’s website as the CEO. “Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate, is the honorary national chairman for My Faith Votes.”

More mandates from the voters: Voters in eight states “overwhelmingly approved constitutional amendment ballot questions seeking to ensure noncitizens cannot vote in state and local elections. Foreign nationals are already barred from voting in federal elections.”
Mainstream / “drive-by media” is dead:
It’s finally over, and the 2024 presidential campaign made history in at least one ignominious respect: Broadcast evening news coverage of the candidates was the most wildly imbalanced in history, favoring Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris over former Republican President Donald Trump by the greatest margin ever recorded.
Democrats in meltdown: A coalition of over 200+ progressive Democrat non-profits and other activist groups met in a virtual call on November 7 to plan how to ”revamp” their party after President Trump’s election victory. Problems quickly rose between moderate and far-left participants who are blaming each other for their losses.
Arizona’s going after ‘em: Arizona voters overwhelmingly OK’d by nearly a 2-to-1 margin a ballot measure sponsored by the Republican-controlled legislature that gives state and local police the power to arrest undocumented immigrants.
UBI, ranked choice voting go down: Oregon voters said “no” to universal basic income (UBI) by almost 80%, and ranked choice voting failed by almost 60%.
Another red state? Six counties in Illinois voted to secede to try to form a new state, with over 70% of voters approving the move to create “New Illinois.”
