Do you know ERIC?
“Over the past two weeks, regime-approved press outlets have run several articles rushing to the defense of leftists’ latest scheme to inflate voter rolls with likely-Democrat voters: the Electronic Registration Information Center.
Otherwise known as ERIC, this organization is a widely used voter-roll “management” system … that was “sold to states as a quick and easy way to update their voter rolls. In reality, ERIC’s membership agreement places a higher priority on registering new voters than on cleaning up existing voter rolls….”
In a nutshell, ERIC obtains lists of folks who are “eligible but unregistered” by requiring its state members to submit all voter files, motor vehicle data, and any other related voter registration data. ERIC compiles this information with that from other states and then re-distributes their updated voter-roll info (multiple registrations, voters who’ve moved/died, unregistered eligible adults, etc).
The catch is — ERIC requires states to “independently validate” ERIC’s data before states can actually use that updated information to actually CLEAN their voter lists. So, how many states do you think actually do that? And, if they’re not doing that validation, what do you think they do with ERIC’s information?
Here’s the rest of that piece we quoted above, from TheFederalist.
Meanwhile, the website lgbtmap.org says this about ERIC:
The Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) is a non-profit organization created in 2012 to assist states in improving the accuracy of their voter rolls. ERIC helps states modernize their voter registration systems and increase efficiency and security. Member states submit their data to ERIC which then allows the states to see if voters have moved within or out of state, identify duplicate registrations and remove ineligible voters. Beginning in 2022 with the withdrawal of Louisiana, a trend has emerged of conservative states leaving ERIC.
Notice that statement doesn’t address the actual clean-up of voter rolls, just “seeing if” that needs to be done. No wonder that “trend” of states leaving ERIC is still ongoing. We’re glad Arkansas doesn’t know ERIC. Let’s make sure it stays that way.
